I became interested in bone health, when I noticed that most of my clients came to me already taking high doses of calcium. At the same time, I have seen the RDA for calcium significantly decrease as a result of the negative  association too much calcium can have with heart health. Supplemental dosing does not always take into account how much calcium is in our whole foods, and in fortified foods as well.  With all this calcium, the statistics don’t lie when it comes to bone health and osteoporotic risk, as well as heart health. This got me searching for a deeper understanding of ways we can truly support our bones, so that we have the tools and know how to maintain our structure as we age, to continue living our life on our own terms. The statistics tell us that 1 in 3 women worldwide, and 1 in 5 men, will experience a fracture as a result of osteoporosis. Is all this calcium everyone’s taking actually getting to the bones?

This question allowed me to look deeper into the heart of the question of all we can do to support our bones and overall body as we age. I also have a personal interest in bone health, because as I age, it is important for me to be preventative and make sure I am doing what I can to support my body as I transition into perimenopause, when bone density begins to shift. In this age of information, we are able to learn more and dive deeper into our own self-care and take our health into our own hands. However it can be difficult to connect the dots and keep bone loss to a minimum, and reverse the pace if it has been accelerated. My journey into bone health has allowed me to look at it through the lens of our current understanding of bone health, as well as the ancient time-trusted Ayurvedic perspective, which is all about self-care, to provide nourishment at a deeper level.

I have seen too many people get stuck, trying this new fad thing or the next, without ever understanding their unique biochemistry, or how to connect it all together. In fact, these are common questions that my clients have repeatedly asked:
